Into the sunset
Dunno why, but I am not the normal Neha since the last couple of weeks. I might look normal and all, but I am not. The truth is, I am sad, I am irritated, I am angry and I am mad about anything and everything around myself. Mind you! Not mad with specific people, but generally, things are making me irritable more often than not. I need a change. I need a break!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Before I break myself. :(
Saw 'The Departed' the other night..I'm not going to do a review - better people can do and have done a better job of that - but I will give it my complete and unhesitating recommendation.
Today, Bangalore saw another history in the making.Ask how?By Neha going to office in the bus.Not a very comfortable, or pleasurable journey I must say, and will be definately avoided by me. It was also not by choice but by compulsion. The auto guys are on strike today. Assholes protesting against the hike in the amount of fines. I am saying that the fines should be doubled and more number of fines should be started. For eg:
- Fine for saying no for going on hire (I know it is already there, but something should be done so that as soon as that fucker shakes his head to signal his disinterest in going to some place, the cops come to know and he is put under bars!)
- Fine for driving rash
- Fine for asking 1.5 even before 10 pm
- Fine for asking double, triple during odd hours
- Fine for not keeping change
- Fine for not returning the change
- Fine for pretending that these motherfuckers don't understand Hindi
- Fine for not going to some place from the route we ask them to take.
- Fine for being so rude!I think they are the rudest creatures God created!!!!
- Fine for increasing their meter. I mean, hell, I know that from ma home to 'x' place it takes 'y' amount, but still his meter willl show double the fare!
At times I feel like gathering all these 1.5 lac auto guys and burning them live. Devil u might be tempted to call me, or already calling me, but people who live here in Bangalore and take autos as means of travelling know what it is like dealing with them!! I am seriously thinking of taking my own vehicle...lets c..
Bought an LG DVD for mum dad as Christmas gift. (Dont ask the model number and all. I dont know that. Ask Achint!) Will be giving it to ma cousin to give it to them. They will be most surprised to receive it :D But because of that generous act of mine, ma month's budjet has gone for a toss :( And Bangalore is expensive :( And mum dad are there to refill ma bank balance :D
But still I love Bangalore. Despite its traffic, cost, AUTO WALLAS....Muuaaah to u baby!
Labels: Auto walas of Blore
34 Comments:
Auto drivers in 'Bengaluru' are much better than those in Chennai. Atleast the meter works...I have been living in chennai for the past 4 years and have never seen an auto driver charge according to the meter...bloody bastards charge more even in prepaid autos...
My GOD!!
wat language..
specially :- But the sad part is that we have to depend on them, and these bitches know that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Bitches?? hmmm.. maybe dogs would be more appropriate.. ;)
My ears turned PINK reading the post... GAK!!!
I hope today is better. take care.
Ganesh : Is it?And here I thought Bangalore is worst when it comes to auto walas....M feeling nice that we not at the saddest end :D My sympathies towards u ;D
Mr. Anonymous : Bitches is a term we used for everybody now!Not just females ;)
Starry Nights : O yes! It definately is :)
Hate those rick-wallas, they think we are walkin' ATMs, some even good lookin' yet they don't mindin' harassin'...think its their birthright!
I was 'bout to ask the model no. for DVD player, but then I read better...
It's fun to be mad, sometimes.
(though, even the term madness is relative!)
Let go and have a break.
Well, I have experienced the auto drivers of Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore. And I guess I would rate the auto drivers of Chennai as the best - in terms of rudeness and worst 'customer service'.
And this may seem strange to people in Delhi, but these auto wallas of Delhi are positively saints in comparison (oops, I think I went too far)
Prashant : ee!!Me smart ;)
Minal : That's what!!I am not getting that break :(
Ashish : Dunno about the auto guys of Chennai..But if you say so....but dealing with Bangalore auto guys is adding to my already furious state :(
Hey, it's nothing abnormal. we do feel like this at times!
But you gotta calm down. So rest your sensesby listening to some cool music buddy!
I wanna come to Bangalore. Seriously. No kiddin'. But never been there cuz don't know anyone there. :(
Priyankari : I do that all the time. Music is what I listen to all day, but seems like music is not helping me these days :( But I am feeling better now :)
Vaibhav : Arey hum mar gaye hai kya?Hum hain na..come come...we shall show u the overcrowded, jam packed, mad Bangalore...never been to B'ore before?
Oh ok.... promise..bet you and Achint wil be tired of showing me around. But no, if u insist I will come LOL. Maybe in the next year - second week of Jan probably. Hmmm... free lodging boarding? :)
O u dont have to ask for that!!!U r most welcome :D Just get ready to experience some extra slow movement of vehicles, but nice weather, pubs discs closing at 11 30 but nice people, rude auto drivers but extra sweet Neha :D
Sorry, I don’t agree with your assessment of the auto rickshaw guys. Let’s face it; we Indians are a corrupt lot. It’s in our genes, and we can’t afford to tow a holier-than-thou line on this issue. Hand on your heart; can you say that you have never cheated anybody? If you have, then there’s no difference between you and that auto guy(Just making a point, don't take it personally). If you haven’t, well I shall salute you. You see, at least that guy is doing it for a living. We do it out of hatred, our inflated egos, for our false pride, in fact for some extremely petty motives. Step out of your home and you’ll see rampant cheating everywhere. Your maid, your watchman, the subjiwallah, the porter, the office boy… the government machinery, our politicians…why? … even your boss…your colleagues, in some cases, best friends …spouses…hell! Everybody is out to cheat everybody else. So, I’d say, take a deep breath…or if need be a chill pill… smell the world, and then, slowly, open your eyes. This is India.:-)
ohh damnnn it was such a tough day that day ... we had to walk few miles before we got soem bus ...it was terrible!!
I stay in chennai and in next three months i'll move to bangalore..when i read your post i thought I shud better start saving to get my self my own Auto :).but then i read the comments and learnt that Bang auto waalahs are missionaries when compared to the savage chennai autowalaah clan!! lookin fwd to the stay there:))
Dheeraj : Everybody does whatever u have listed, but not like the way these auto wallahs do...think u r not from B'lore...otherwise u would not have said whatever u said :D
White Forest : ok. Which day?I am a little confused here...
1) I am from Delhi
2) I believe: There are no half measures in cheating; :-) either we do it or we don't. The degrees may vary, but the motive remains the same.
3) This may make you feel better: One of my friends in Delhi took an auto from Connaught Place. He was accompanied by one of his collegues. The auto guy asked for 50 bucks. Both of them hopped in. When they reached the destination, my friend took out a Rs 50 note to give to the auto guy. The auto guy turned around and said...saheb, we had decided on Rs 50 per head...not Rs. 50 in all... A small fight ensued, but eventually my friend, poor guy, had to give in and shell out Rs. 100.
4) Unsolicited advice: Buy a car
:-)
5) My opinion: Your blog rocks!
6) My demand : Update your blog more regularly :-)
Tch Tch...I completely disagree with what Dheeraj says. C'mon yaar just merely shrugging off everything by saying "This is India" shows your weakness. Your weakness to change things. The weakness to meekly accept whatever's been dished out.
can you say that you have never cheated anybody?. Duh...everybody cheats knowingly or unkonwingly. But tha doesn't mean that things never change. Look at the bigger picture. And how can you say, that corruption is in our genes? Dude, come out of your warped sense of belongingness and stop judging others. Please.
Now i can understand the problem of urs..
When i came to bangalore 5yrs ago its like a heaven to me..As i come from the driest part of Tamilnadu(much better than chennai)..i used to travel by auto only as it was cheaper at that time..then its getting costlier i decided to buy a two wheeler..now i am paying heavily for the fuel :-((
Samething happened to me like ur DVD case..I bought a Silk saree for my mom and Shirts for my DAD for their Wedding anniversary...they are very happy..after that i asked them money for my pocket expenses as spent everything for the dress. it happens to anybody :-D
**I am irritated, I am angry and I am mad about anything and everything around myself. Mind you! Not mad with specific people, but generally, things are making me irritable more often than not**
chill maar yaar....,,ekta kapoor ka serial dekh liye kya..??
himeshji ki kasam,,,i go thr' the same feelings when i see the tulsi's and her ba's...!!
YAPPY CHRISTMAS..... where is my gift..!!
(abbey seems i am not able to comment...excuse me if i have done it multiple times..!!)
Dheeraj : 1)ok
2)The point here in context to this post?
3)Instances like this can happen anywhere! In Bangalore, they happen quite a lot!!
4)Cant afford it presently :)
5)Thank u
6)ok. I shall :)
Cardamom : Might be, in comparision...but looking at them as one lot, they are devils. Strong advise, if you have a vehicle of your own get it here. U will be saved from a lot of trouble and torture :D
Vaibhav : I strongly support u dude. U have ma vote :D
Thenraj : Seems like the grass is always greener on the other side :)
Aqua : Lucky me then??
Ankit : Dont worry...u commented only one :D
U shall surely get the x mas gift...though not from me :D
For Vaibhav: Firstly, sorry to Neha for whipping up strong emotions in some people. And secondly, if you permit, I'd like to react to Vaibhav's post.
To begin with, let me salute Vaibhav for the stand he is taking. You seem to be a young guy who wants to change thigs. I'm with you on that. Go ahead, but remember, the rules of the game are: You can't give up at any stage in your life; you can't leave the country for greener pastures or on some pretence or the other; you can not pay a single penny to anybody to get favours, ever in your life, even if that amounts to suffering losses, or cheat anybody for anything, come what may.
Coming back to your comments about my post, well, yes, I have weaknesses, and this could be one of them. I think it's better to admit weaknesses or be cynical or whatever you call it rather than be pretentious to become popular. Sorry buddy! Not my cuppa tea! :-)
Corruption is in our genes is something I say from my experience. Having lived in the Middle East, Italy and Australia, I can safely say that by and large we are corrupt people. And when I say corrupt I mean not only the 'Have nots' but also the 'Haves'. If you can change my perceptions, go ahead, I am willing to change my opinion. The comments were made more in context of Neha's post rather than at a personal level, which incidentally I have mentioned in my post.
I hope and pray that your experience of India is different from mine and you become the catalyst for a new wave in clean governance in this country. :-)
I shall also be happy if you keep the discussion at the level of a discussion and not use expressions like tch tch and warped, because it is not our blog and we must show some respect to the owner of this blog for allowing us to express our views. All the best, Vaibhav... and thanks Neha for publishing my comments. :-)
Hey,looks like Neha is inviting everyone to Bangalore for a trip :-))Anyone interested ??

Wish u a happy new year 2007
Dheeraj : I had written a very long comment on ur comment..but the electricity went and all the data was lost :"( And i dont have any back up too on ma desktop :(
Anyways, all I wanna say is that dont get mad. This is the country where we live. We just cant out up with any shit given to us. Easy for you to say coz u dont stay here and havent seen the hardships. Easy for u to say. I think you are ok with this thing, even if you do not want to encourage it.Thats sad.I cannot think of any person living on this planet who is not corrupt. But that does not mean we put up with it. Lets not say, its ok.Everybody does it.Therefore, its not out of ordinary. The blood burns here u c.
Totally backing up Vaibhav.
Also, its ok for u to use any words, key down any kind of emotion here. This blog has been started to voice out opinions.Lets be honest at least here.
Hope u take it in the right spirit buddy. Nothing personal.
Have a nice day.
Manish : Not everyone...mind that!!Rather lets say, I am not inviting anyone. People are coming to Blore and I m just giving them encouragement to come.Thats it.
Mathew : Thanks Mathew. Same to you buddy. Hoping that you r having fun there.
Arzoon : The DVD I bought is also quite similar...can play Divx movies too...see same to same :)
Model number mat pucho..I dunno that. Achint might be knowing that.
I can totally sympathize with you on this one.Even I used to take the services of these sons of bitches when I used to miss ma cab while going to Whitefield, during ma summer internship days :(
Sudeep : O no...missed your birthday...sowiieee :(
Some kind of transition taking place in ma life..dont ask what? Will let ya know in ma next post...till then, keep guessing! :D
Thenraj : Yup.Point!!
Ignoramus Neha :-),
The only thing your reply suggests to me is that Vaibhav is a good friend of yours and that you don't read my replies carefully. To set the record straight for the last time, I live in Delhi and have faced enough hardships like any average Indian might have. I am not mad at anybody, in fact I lauded Vaibhav for his efforts to try and change things. The only thing I don't approve of are double standards. You can't justify your acts of wrongdoing and then say that the rickshaw-wallahs are cheats. In fact what you did with your boss (as mentioned in your latest post) is as bad as what the rickshaw wallahs do with their customers. Your boss, if he is faithful to his organisation, must be as mad at you, as you get at those rick-guys. Double standards Neha, blatant double standards. But I don't blame you for it. It's the sign of our times. We are producing generations that are not just corrupt but shallow in their thinking. The only mantra for living is money. 'My blood boils' is no excuse for putting up with those people. If you have got the guts, which incidentally is a rare commodity these days - report them to the police, look for another rick, or better still, leave the city. Remember, both the perpetrator and abettor are always equally responsible for the crime - I think the Bible also says so. So in light of the above, suddenly, your going to the church, singing carols and claiming to be a devout christian starts sounding hollow. But never mind, as I said, it's the sign of our times. Morals and speaking from the high ground is just a matter of convenience for us. When it suits us, we are moralistic, when it doesn't, it's 'Chalta Hai'. So Ms. Neha, rise up and make a difference! Taking a high moral ground, swearing like a rustic and then not doing anything about it will not take you anywhere. Mad at me? I say, 'Chalta hai'. :-)
Firstly, Vaibhav is just a blog friend of mine. Just the way, u could have been. :)
Secondly, I do not think u know what its like to be in Blore coz u sitting in Delhi.Thirdly, what I did with ma boss, was something intelligent. God has given us brains and I used it. I did not cheat him. I gave him enough notice for the transition to happen. Unlike the auto wallahs whose meters are anyways rotating just as ur baseless comments are :)
Your perception to the whole thing is so shallow. Found nothing, then started blaming the generation.Just happily commenting on blogs on how pathetic the generation has become.
And who said we are putting up with these mother fuckers anyways?? :D
U aretalking about reporting to the police?Sorry, its tried, tested and failed here.
Look for another rick??Thats what we do...rarely do we find a guy coming who is honest.
Leave the city??U ar into some placement agency who is giving me assured job somewhere else??
Its not Chalta hai here....if it was, the post would have not been on this blog u c..
U are fit to be a politician. commenting. Doing nothing..sorry..could not stop myself from writing this..
If I swear, its ma business, on ma blog, using ma keys and ma computer. If u have so many problems, stop coming to ma blog. Here U will get nothing but things as they are, and nothing will be hypocrate about them, the way I think u r thinking.
Hi Neha
Gosh, you are really mad at me. Well, I posted a strong reply simply because you want this to be an open forum? Isn't it? Then why say things like, stop coming to my blog... well...I have made my point. You have made yours. Or, have you? I shall not push the envelope further. Just want to say one thing, I am from the same generation as you, so when I blame the generation, I actually blame myself too. And, no, I don't run a placement agency...plus I think if you can't find happiness at one place, you won't find it anywhere in the world. As they say, once a cribber, always a cribber. :-) And, another point, I really can't compete with you on use of swear words. For me, saying motherf*#@ is as bad and filthy as using the choicest hindi abuses that we have come to accept as fashionable and chic. Degeneration, my friend, degeneration. Of course you are free to use them. You are free to kill, free to lie, free to cheat, free to shout filthy obscenities from the rooftop...after all we live in a free country, isn't it? And thanks for saying 'I-could-have-been-your-friend'. I am truly honoured. But, as I said, even here, you are showing your shallowness. Just because we have a difference of opinion, it has become could-have-been. :-) But, never mind, it's your blog. I shall continue to visit it, continue to post comments... and you shall continue to publish them, as is your wont. In fact, here I must say, I really appreciate your gesture of publishing my last reply inspite of it having some nasty things in it for you. You seem to be a decent girl overall, though a little immature and snappy. :-)
Neha : Think what u want to.
Sorry Neha...come again... I didn't quite get your English...
:-)
